where it began
As a little girl, one of my first
memories was accompanying my Grandma Steen in the kitchen watching her bake, as my siblings and cousins played outside. She passed down such exceptional recipes and although she passed when I was only 6 or 7, I believe her influence is what inspired me to have a connection to baking.
Throughout my young years, I found any excuse to celebrate my friends and family with handmade treats. It truly came naturally to me more than anything else ever has.
Year by year, I worked to improve my skills. My number one focus was TASTE - because what is the point in desserts that look pretty but fall flat in flavor?
In 2019, once I felt my recipes were solid and my decorating skills were decent, I opened The Heartland Cookie Co. We thrived during COVID-19 and I began to grow my customer base and social media presence.
Today, I am so lucky to have such loyal customers and friends trusting me to be such an important part of their life celebrations.

I have a long history working in the food and beverage industry - over two decades! Until June 2025, I was the owner + lead wedding planner of Brick + Ivory Events. After 10 years, I decided it was time to hang up my wedding planner hat.
I have been married 10 years to my supportive and easy going husband, Bill, who is an Appellate Attorney. I am the feral to his calm - a match made in heaven!
We are child free and have two dogs - Oliver and Juniper - who we absolutely ADORE (maybe too much?) My favorite title? Auntie of my niece, Luna, and nephew, Mark who I travel to see as often as I can.
I enjoy sharing a lot about myself through my social media content - focusing on de-stigmatizing tough subjects and a healthy number of memes.
